Javi Villa wins on the north side of Fito.
Colunga 7th of September: Javi Villa scored a commanding win in the Sueve Hillclimb, a round of the Asturian Hillclimb Championship run on Saturday the 7th of September on the north side of Fito. This is a win with a special meaning for Javi, born in Loroñe, a little village located just a few kilometers away from the start of the race, and it also allowed him to complete his total domination of the Fito mountain after having won, for the last two seasons, on the hillclimb starting from Arriondas and run on its south side, an event valid for the European and Spanish championships.

At Sueve Villa drove a BRC B49 equipped with the new BMW 1000 engine, not yet homologated for the Spanish championship events and on which the Bango Racing Cars team has been working for the last few months. The weather wasn't especially good as it was raining for almost the whole day so the three climbs on the schedule were done on a damp or wet track but, despite this, Javi showed again his speed but it was difficult to draw any conclusions about the new engine.

After his first contact with the B49-BMW in practice, setting the second best time, Villa was the fastest in the first timed climb, run on a very wet and far more slippery asphalt where he was the only driver capable of beating the great time set by the Mitsubishi 4x4 driven by José Albino García, which was out of reach for all the other competitors in the CM category with their rear wheel drive cars. In the end Javi was the only one who managed to do it, improving the time set by the winner in the tintop category by almost one and a half seconds, beating his closest competitor in the category 1, where his BRC is included in the Asturian series, by more than two seconds.

On the second timed climb, with the road in a slightly better condition, Villa won again, increasing his advantage after improving his previous time by almost ten seconds. Consequently Javi won the Sueve hillclimb in the overall standings calculated by the addition of the two timed climbs where he achieved a total time almost six seconds better than the second classified runner. A commanding win that extends the unbeaten streak for Villa in all the rounds of the Spanish Championship and regional events that he has entered so far this season.

Javi Villa's own words: "The conditions weren't the best to test the new engine, with the road so wet we couldn't see its true potential , especially at high revs as well as the difference of running without the air restrictor mandatory in the national races. Anyway we ended up running fast, also testing some traction stuff and checking that all was working fine. We did the three climbs without problems and that was the most important thing today, to show that the car is ready to race."
