Javi Villa takes fifth in the second race at Brands Hatch.
Brands Hatch, 9th June 2013: Javi Villa couldn't make the Brands Hatch podium that was his target for the second race of the weekend, run on Sunday morning at the British track. The Spaniard gave it his all once again but despite all his efforts it was impossible to finish better than fifth with a car that's still not performing as expected and not improving despite the continuous work done throughout the whole weekend.

In today's race Villa was starting from fourth position and despite, on the first lap, chasing the third placed car driven by the Swede Nordström, as the laps went on he was unable to find a way to pass him and to get to the podium would be impossible. In fact, Javi was soon having to defend more than attack, as the Swiss Zimmer was coming back strongly, pushing hard until he passed the Spaniard on lap 24.

From there to the end of the race Javi run glued to Zimmer's car but without any chance to pass and having to settle for fifth position at the chequered flag. A better result than yesterday but, still, quite disappointing compared with his expectations.

Thus the weekend finished clearly below par for Villa at Brands Hatch, where last year he won on his first drive there with the European NASCAR. But this time, despite having more experience at the wheel of the powerful American style cars, Javi's result have been far from what he should get. The reason must be found in a car that is not performing as it should, rarely responding to the setup changes, an obvious symptom of some important problem at the chassis level that must be fixed ahead of the remaining races of the season as it doesn't make any sense for the Spanish driver to go on like this, pushing as hard as possible to just be in the middle of the group and without any chances to fight for the win.

Javier Villa: "We finished the Brands Hatch with a below par fifth position. This weekend there has been done a lot of work done on the car and I really think that we now know where the problem is. Right now we have to make some decisions and see what happens because is not possible to go on like this. Last year we were new to this championship and I won first time out at this track while this year, despite pushing even more I didn't get the results which shows that something is wrong and I hope it can be fixed as soon as possible."
