Double victory for Javi Villa in the rain at the first day of the Fito hillclimb.
Arriondas 18th of May. A superb first day at the Fito hillclimb for Javi Villa, who has easily dominated the first two ascents counting toward the Spanish Championship held in the rain today, Saturday, at Arriondas. Additionally the times set by Javi at the wheel of the BRC B49 have been extraordinary, placing him third in the general overall times, surpassing the great majority of the cars valid for the European Hillclimb Championship that are taking part in the classic Asturian event.

Rain was falling on the Fito route from the morning, which gave Villa his first opportunity to try the new B49 in the wet during the fee practice. After making some changes to the settings of the BRC, Javi, on the first official ascent, was already clearly the fastest, leading the following CM by more than 8 seconds, and also setting the fastest time of all the participants in the test.

In the afternoon, after making some more adjustments in the second free practice, Javi reduced his previous time by four seconds to be the clear winner in the classification for the Championship of Spain, almost nine seconds faster than his teammate, Jairo Pesquera, who completed the team of new B49s from Bango Racing Cars. The magnificent time set by Javi also placed him in third place of the overall classification, only just behind powerful Osella PA30 of the European Champion Faggioli and Julien Ducomin, just 2 seconds separating them even though the CM of the Asturian has one third the power of the car of the Swiss driver.

Tomorrow, Sunday, the Fito program will see the third leg of the National Championship being completed, where Javi will run with the aim of having a further perfect weekend in the Spanish Hillclimb Championship with another victory.

Javi Villa's own words: “The day has gone very well, I had my first experience with the B49 in the wet and I believe that it's not possible to go any better. In the morning in free practice we began knowing the car a little, we made a couple of changes during the day and every time we were faster. In the first race we did a 3:08 and in the second a 3:04, I think these are very fast times with a big difference to the second fastest as well as being third amongst the European runners. Additionally in the National classification Jairo is second with the other B49 and third is Jonathan with the 05, the three BRCs first, second and third in the two races, let's see if tomorrow ends as well as today with another victory.”
