Positive first day of testing for Javi Villa at Nogaro.
Nogaro, 29th March 2013: Today Javier Villa has completed the first two free practice sessions ahead of the first round of the 2013 European NASCAR, held this weekend at the French track of Nogaro. The expected rain didn't arrive in the end and despite the morning session starting on a slightly damp track, the sun quickly dried up the asphalt allowing the teams to start working on their cars.

For Villa and Scorpus Racing this was their first full working day together so the main focus has been on starting to get used to each other and to get the whole team structure up to speed at getting the best from the team and the car.

From the first practice session Javi has started to work on the setup for tomorrow's qualifying where a key factor will be the on-track traffic, which has been really bad today in both sessions. To find a good car setup and to get a clean lap, without any other car holding him up, will be Villa's target in the qualifying session that will decide the first starting grid of the season.

Even if right now is almost impossible to draw any conclusions, as today's laptimes have been largely meaningless given the different work programs of each team, Villa is optimistic ahead of the first race weekend of the year. The Spaniard expects to fight at the front, as he did last year in his first race at this same track at the wheel of the NASCAR chassis.

Saturday March 30th
11:30 – 12:30 Practice (60’)
16:25 – 16:40 Qualifying
Sunday March 31st
17:00 – 17:30 Race 1
Monday April 1st
17:00 – 17:30 Race 2

Javier Villa's own words: "Today has been dedicated mainly to getting everything on the move. I have to get used to the team and start to work together on the car so I think it has been positive. In the morning the first session started on a damp track but then it has been sunny and we have been able to work on the two sessions, starting to get the car ready.
Tomorrow there is yet another free practice in the morning to keep working on the car setup ahead of the qualifying. A key factor to setting a good laptime will be the traffic, there are 26 cars on track and today I didn't have a totally clean lap so finding a 'hole' among all that traffic will be vital. I think that we'll be strong and I'll fight at the front, as I did last year at this same circuit."
