CISVIAL SPRINT TROPHY
Javi Villa put an end to his season with a great showing at the wheel of the BRC.
Langreo, 10th December 2011. Back to his home land, Asturias, after enjoying a much deserved holiday following the frenetic end of the season in both the WTCC and the Mini Challenge, Javi Villa competed today at Langreo in a very different kind of event, the CISvial Sprint Trophy, a race midway between a slalom and a time attack where he has been one of the top stars at the wheel of the BRC he drove to the victory in June at the Santo Emiliano hillclimb.

Javi has enjoyed the experience, setting some very good laptimes from the beginning on a circuit of a few more than a kilometre in length within the CISvial facilities and where it was even more a matter of skill to avoid the different obstacles than of pure speed. In the phase A legs, run in the morning, Javi got to first position after being the fastest in the final run even though he got a five second penalty for hitting one of the barriers.

In the two practice runs of phase B, Villa was again the fastest, but in the very last run he was surprised by the very good record of Spanish Hillclimb champion, Oscar Palacio, who pushed to the limit after being only fourth in the morning, finally setting the best overall time and winning by a mere 7 tenths ahead of Javi in an exciting final.

Anyway almost the less important thing today was the result on a day that was mainly for fun and that for Javi was the perfect and very satisfactory close to his long 2011 racing schedule.

Javier Villa: "I had a lot of fun in an event that's quite different to what I am used to doing, here it is more about the ability to move the car around than anything else. It has been very useful to learn more about the BRC and if we ever do another hillclimb with it I'll have a lot more references. I have been fastest on most runs but in the very last one Oscar was very strong and surprised me, we lacked a bit more than half a second but I think that we did a good show and that's the important for the fans that came to enjoy the event and who had fun to the end. Furthermore Oscar deserved the win to celebrate that yesterday he became a father for the first time, congratulations!"
