| Macau, 20th November 2011. Javier Villa finished his first season in the FIA World Touring Car Championship with the fifth position in the Yokohama Trophy and the twelfth overall. Today, at Macau, he was seventh and fifth of the Independents in the two races.
Villa, who had never before raced through the streets of the difficult Macau track, managed to avoid all the incidents in both races, getting to the finish without making any mistakes, something not usual for a newcomer to this track. As opposed to all his rivals that already knew the circuit, Javi went on improving his race pace all the day, scoring his fastest lap at the end of the second race, with the tyres already quite worn out and even improving on his own qualifying time, set with fresh tyres.
The general feeling left by the young Spaniard in his maiden touring car season has been good, pointing up out as one of the future stars of the series in the years to come. Next month will be crucial to decide Javi's immediate future and secure his 2012 program in the championship. |
